A SparkFabrik workshop on GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio Code, beyond code completion: how it works and how to use it across the development cycle.

Luca Lusso showed the three main **chat modes** and when to use each:

- **Ask**, to ask questions and reason about the code without changing it.
- **Edit**, to change the open files under the developer's control, when the changes are clear.
- **Agent**, which works across several files and calls external tools to reach a goal.

Then customization. Participants learned to:

- create custom **chat modes** for specific tasks, such as research or planning;
- direct requests with **participants** (`@workspace`, `@terminal`);
- define reusable **custom prompts**, called as slash commands;
- set **custom instructions** with the project guidelines, applied to every request.
