Display Builder, the Native Visual Builder for Design Systems, by UI Suite

For many years, the UI Suite initiative team has been working with great commitment and passion to bring display creation to the forefront. The goal is to help Drupal catch up on this topic compared to other technologies like WordPress.

Today, UI Suite manages the core features (SDC, Icon API, Asset Libraries) and contrib modules (UI Patterns, UI Styles, UI Skins, UI Icons, UI Examples) to provide a complete and consistent way to package and map design systems with data in a no-code way through Drupal’s user interface.

However, there remained a strange feeling of incompleteness. Display creation with UI Suite remained a fragmented experience, with many tools to use: Views, Layout Builder, Manage Display, Block Layout, and other parts of Drupal.

A year ago, we had a revelation! It was time to build the missing piece of our puzzle: Display Builder, a display creation tool that is:

Design system native: fully utilizes design systems (components, style utilities, icons, themes, CSS variables…) directly in Drupal without the need for compatibility layers
Unified: replaces Layout Builder for entity display, Block Layout for page display, Views’ display creation feature, …
Modern: provides all the advanced features needed (drag and drop, dynamic previews, tree view, predefined templates, real-time collaboration, etc.)
Lightweight: leverages HTMX and all existing APIs from Core modules (SDC, Icon) and UI Suite without any additional dependencies

After a presentation of UI Suite, this session will focus mainly on live demos of Display Builder.

AI Agents in Drupal: From Tool API to No-Code Integrating MCP

In this session, we’ll see AI Agents in action on real Drupal projects. Our goal? Build a Customer Assistant capable of guiding users to the right product and notifying the team on Slack for each completed purchase.

We’ll analyze the tech stack step-by-step. We’ll start by creating a custom Tool via the Tool API, focusing on how to keep code clean, documented, and maintainable. Next, we’ll see how the MCP Client module allows us to integrate external Tools from an MCP Server directly into Drupal. We’ll also discuss best practices: why tool design, documentation, and testing are crucial when working with AI.

We’ll close the loop by assembling our Agent through Drupal’s no-code interface: you’ll see how simple it is to put the pieces together while maintaining control, security, and clarity.
